Adoptive family communication topics include:
  • Talking to my child about adoption
  • Maintaining a relationship with my child’s birth parents
  • Supporting my child’s relationship with his/her birth parents
  • Talking with extended family members about my child’s adoption

One-on-one sessions

Custom communication plan: 
  • Visit 1: 30-minute consultation to gather information about family communication needs
  • Visit 2: A customized communication plan that translates academic research into specific, practical steps you can take. The written plan will be presented and discussed during a 50-minute session in which we discuss the specifics and go over questions 
  • Visit 3: 30-minute follow-up session to troubleshoot, refine, and update communication plan

​"Adoption Doula" Services: ​
  •  This professional relationship is established to support, encourage, and guide prospective parents through all aspects of the adoption process
  • 5 face-to-face sessions
  • Ongoing email and text messaging access
  • In-person support during key moments in adoption process (birth, initial meetings with birth family, first visits with birth family post-birth)
